The armoire has been an icon of French culture since the days of Charlemagne. Armoires were first used to hold noblemen's suits of armor and were regarded as the most important object of the home. Later on, bonnetières, or single door armoires, were crafted and designed to hold a woman's hat, her symbol of status in society.

Today, armoires are not only regarded as a collector's item but also offer practical use for anywhere from housing t.v.'s, to organizing your favorite vintage linens, or simply storing a child's toys.
